From Variety.com article, “Tim Story to Direct, Produce Movie on 1921 Tulsa Race Riot”
by Dave McNary – May 17, 2017
Tim Story, helmer of the three “Ride Along” movies, is directing and producing a feature film about the deadly 1921 Tulsa Race Riot.
Story and Doug Griffin are producing through the Story Company with Christine Holder and Mark Holder of Zero Gravity. Zak Kilberg is also Producing via his Social Construct banner, with Blue Ridge Media Capital serving as executive producer. Christopher Kubasik has been hired to write the screenplay, inspired by Corinda Marsh’s historical novel “Holocaust in the Homeland: Black Wall Street’s Last Days.”
The book’s account, seen through the eyes of a fictional reporter, focuses on the Greenwood section of Tulsa, Okla., which was called “Black Wall Street” because of its economic success. The riot completely razed Greenwood, destroying the lives of its 10,000 residents.
Story’s directing credits include the two “Think Like a Man” movies, “Fantastic Four,” and “Barbershop.” He’s directing and executive producing Showtime’s upcoming comedy series “White Famous,” based on Jamie Foxx’s personal experiences.
Story is repped by UTA. Kubasik is repped by Zero Gravity and Rob Szymanski of Eclipse Law. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.

A story of the fading of the jazz-age American aristocracy, The Song of Sway Lake tells of the last remnants of the Sway family, in the golden light of late summer, on a lake that bears their name. In the early 1990s, orphaned Ollie (Rory Culkin) and his charismatic young Russian friend Nikolai (Robert Sheehan) try to steal a priceless 1940s record from the collection of Ollie’s grandmother Charlie Sway (Mary Beth Peil). While Ollie falls in love with a class-conscious local girl (Isabelle McNally), Nikolai secretly woos the matriarch herself, and Charlie confronts the invisible burden of her fixation on the past. In The Song of Sway Lake, all those in the long shadow of the “Greatest Generation” struggle to cast off the weight of an age of glamour they cannot recreate.
Featuring a sparking soundtrack, including the stunning original of the title.

Together with Benedict Cumberbatch (THE IMITATION GAME, nominated for an Oscar), Michael Bronner (CAPTAIN PHILLIPS, nominated for six Oscars in 2014, including Best Picture), Michael and Christine Holder of Zero Gravity (BEASTS OF NO NATION), and Lloyd Levin (GREEN ZONE, UNITED 93), Social Construct’s joint venture Convergent Media is executive producing GUANTÁNAMO DIARY, the feature film version of the NYT Best Seller, by current Guantánamo prisoner Mohamedou Ould Slahi.
Slahi was a suspected terrorist and has been incarcerated at Guantanamo Bay for 14 years without ever being charged with a crime, without any evidence against him, and without having the opportunity to defend himself in court. Two prosecutors in his case resigned in protest, and a federal judge ordered Slahi’s release, yet he still in prison, due to the government’s appeal.
The New York Times calls his book “the most profound account yet written of what it is like to be collateral damage” in the so-called “War on Terror.”
