On May 11, 2017, Rolling Stone released the trailer for the Buena Vista Social Club Adios documentary, and announced the planned release date of May 26. The film is a production of Social Construct’s joint venture, Convergent Media, and is Produced by Social Construct founder and CEO, Zak Kilberg.

Social Construct and Convergent Media founder Zak Kilberg is Executive Producing. Other producers include Michael Bronner (CAPTAIN PHILLIPS), Michael and Christine Holder of Zero Gravity (BEASTS OF NO NATION), and Lloyd Levin (GREEN ZONE, UNITED 93). The film is based on the New York Times best-selling book of the same name, by current Guantánamo prisoner and acclaimed author Mohamedou Ould Slahi. The Times calls the book “the most profound account yet written of what it is like to be collateral damage” in the “War on Terror.”

Convergent Media co-founders Zak Kilberg and Russell Smith are Executive Producing. Other producers include Michael Bronner (CAPTAIN PHILLIPS), Michael and Christine Holder of Zero Gravity (BEASTS OF NO NATION), and Lloyd Levin (GREEN ZONE, UNITED 93). Social Construct’s joint venture, Convergent Media, is excited to have Wim Wenders, director and co-writer of the original 1999 documentary Buena Vista Social Club, as executive producer for the follow-up film.
Buena Vista Social Club: Adios, currently in production, will be “an intimate look into the changes and success of the band over the past 20 years […] against the unique and unprecedented political, social and cultural backdrop of Cuba in 2015.”
Produced by Social Construct’s founder Zak Kilberg, along with Christine Cowin, the documentary is to be directed by Lucy Walker. The film will be distributed by Broad Green Pictures and is expected to be released in 2016.

Convergent Media, Social Construct’s joint venture with leading entertainment law firm SmithDehn, is producing BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB – ADIÓS, a feature documentary film directed by two-time Academy Award nominee Lucy Walker, Executive Produced by Wim Wenders, and distributed in the U.S. by Broad Green Pictures. Sixteen years after the previous Academy Award nominated film (directed by Wenders), this latest project is following the five surviving original members of the world-changing Cuban band, Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club, during their final international tour, culminating in a massive celebration in Havana. The film will include mesmerizing concert footage and poignant reflections on the astounding success of the band and the loss of several of its members. It also will be set in the context of the historic changes in the relationship between Cuba and the United States, undoubtedly influenced by the vibrant music and culture of Cuba epitomized and brought to the world stage by this band.
