SYNOPSIS:

Together with Benedict Cumberbatch (THE IMITATION GAME, nominated for an Oscar), Michael Bronner (CAPTAIN PHILLIPS, nominated for six Oscars in 2014, including Best Picture), Michael and Christine Holder of Zero Gravity (BEASTS OF NO NATION), and Lloyd Levin (GREEN ZONE, UNITED 93), Social Construct’s joint venture Convergent Media is executive producing GUANTÁNAMO DIARY, the feature film version of the NYT Best Seller, by current Guantánamo prisoner Mohamedou Ould Slahi. Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald (One Day in SeptemberThe Last King of Scotland) is on board to direct.

Slahi was a suspected terrorist and has been incarcerated at Guantanamo Bay for 14 years without ever being charged with a crime, without any evidence against him, and without having the opportunity to defend himself in court. Two prosecutors in his case resigned in protest, and a federal judge ordered Slahi’s release, yet he still in prison, due to the government’s appeal.

The New York Times calls his book “the most profound account yet written of what it is like to be collateral damage” in the so-called “War on Terror.”

SYNOPSIS:

Based on the critically acclaimed memoir by Francisco Goldman. In this autobiographical love story, Goldman married young writer Aura Estrada in a romantic Mexican hacienda in 2005. A month before their second anniversary, she passed away after a body surfing accident. Goldman was blamed by her family and himself and wanted to die but wrote “Say Her Name” as a novel chronicling his love and loss.

Untitled 1921 Tulsa Race Riot Project

SYNOPSIS:

Inspired by Corinda Marsh’s historical novel “Holocaust in the Homeland: Black Wall Street’s Last Days.”

The book’s account, seen through the eyes of a fictional reporter, focuses on the Greenwood section of Tulsa, Okla., which was called “Black Wall Street” because of its economic success. The riot completely razed Greenwood, destroying the lives of its 10,000 residents.

The riot was mostly ignored until 1996, when the state legislature authorized the Oklahoma Commission to Investigate the Tulsa Race Riot.
